I love my mama earth
今天有幸能与同学们聚在一起谈论关于保护环境、保护地球的问题，我非常高兴，我们都知道Today I am very honored and also pleased to be here and have us all gathered around for a discussion of the issue -----"protecting the evironment, protecing the earth". As we all know,
“保护地球，低碳环保”是一个老话题了。但即使是这样，依然没能引起一部分人的足够重视，this is a quite familiar issue to all of us. However, it still draws little attention to some people.
相当一部分人还只是停留在口头上。所以我觉得该呼吁更多的人都来保护环境，像关爱生命、保护眼睛一样关注我们的环境。
Even, there is still a rather large group of people treat this issue as a slogen without actions. Therefore, I think there is a growing need for us to call on more and more people to protect the environment as they do with their eyes and dearly lives.
是的,我们人类无疑是妈妈的骄傲,可是,同学们,我们曾经的所作所为却是那么的让妈妈伤心失望。Surely, the mama earth would be proud of us human beings for our achievements. But at the same time, how disappointed would she be if she knows the improper things we have done.
大量的调查,科学的数据告诉我们:一节废弃的干电池能使1平方米的土地50年寸草不生。
According to various research, some distinct data shows that it only takes one dumped dry cell to make a complete square of land grassless in 50 years.
废弃电池对河流、湖泊、地下水、土地的污染危机着人类健康,更破坏着人类的生存环境。而人类从来没有因此而过多的内疚、忏悔,反而更为疯狂的加速着对环境的破坏,对资源的掠夺。
Dumped cells endanger the ecology of rivers, lakes,underwaters and earth. And even worse, they intimidates human's health and surroundings. In the past, those who produced tons of waste including dumped cells ---- human beings, never felt too much of regretness or penitence. Instead, they accelerated the process of exploiting resources accompanied with environmental distruction.
而所幸的是,面对这些残酷的现实，地球的儿女们已经开始反省了。
Luckily for the mama earth, her children have started to make introspections of their deeds as things get worse and worse.
今天世界各国,包括着960万平方公里土地的大中国,正以一个全新的姿态行动起来。
At present, countries from all over the world, including our great motherland China of approximately 9,600,000 square kilometers, are taking actions with a whole new aspect of them.
比如从总体上看，我国生态环境恶化的趋势已初步得到遏制，部分地区有所改善，但目前我国环境形势仍然相当严峻，不容乐观。
Take our own country as an example. Even though ecological distructions have been halted and great changes have been taken place in several areas, the all-around enviromental situation is still tough at present.
严峻的环境形势迫使我们必须做出选择：是持续发展还是自我毁灭。毫无疑问，我们应当刻不容缓地采取有效措施，防治环境污染与破坏。否则，日益恶化的环境将使我们在其他领域中所取得的一切成就黯然失色。
The sirious situation now puts two options in front of us: either sustained development or self-destruction. We would definitely choose the former, and do our best in taking efficient actions
to protect our environment from pollution and distruction. If not, our achievements in any other scopes would be overshadowed by a heavily damaged environment.
同学们，保护环境这个任务离我们并不遥远，我们有很多力所能及的事情，比如捡起掉在地上的一张小纸片，关紧水龙头，不让那几滴水白白流走做起，等等。
My dear fellows, it is not hard for us to join in the club of protecting our enviroment. There are still many things we can do, such as picking up a tiny piect of litter from the ground, turning off a leaking faucet to save a few drops of water, etc.
最后我想说：同学们,我们只有一个地球,在这浩瀚宇宙中,地球是我们唯一的家。地球妈妈把守护这片美丽大地的使命交给了我们。对于我们美丽的地球妈妈,我们能够付出的最大的关爱,就是用我们真挚的心,勤劳的手,保护每一片森林,每一块绿地,每一条绿水,每一方天空,用美好的环境让地球妈妈焕发出昔日的光彩,让我们生活的这个星球成为宇宙中最璀璨的一颗明星！
Finally, I'd like to generalize: my dear fellows, the one and only earth provides us the one and only dear home for us in this immense universe. Therefore, we have the responsibility to protect this beautiful planet. We would give whatever we have to our earth mama, to care about her, to love every single part of her, and with our sincere heart and diligent hands,every forest, every grassland, every creek, even every coner of the blue sky would be in our protection. Let's make the earth mama shine brightly and be as gorgeous as she used to be, and let's make her the most radiant star in this universe!
